Lebanon: Palestinian man shot, bomb damages car
A Palestinian taxi driver was shot and critically wounded and a bomb exploded Monday in a southern Lebanese refugee camp notorious for lawlessness, Lebanese security officials said. A man with a pistol shot the driver, Kayed Abdullah, in the head at point-blank range in Ein el-Hilweh camp and fled, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of government regulations. The motive was not known. Abdullah, 30, was rushed to hospital where he was listed as in a serious condition. Separately, a bomb exploded under a car in another part of Ein el-Hilweh, causing limited damage, the officials said. The bomb attack was thought to be the work of Muslim extremists.
