Russia: Suspect arrested in Jewish man's murder

Russian police have arrested a suspect, Georgiy Kulik, in the murder of a Jewish teacher that authorities said was motivated by jealousy, not anti-Semitism, JTA reported Monday. Dmitri Nikolinski, a 22-year-old Jewish student at St. Petersburg University, was stabbed to death on Saturday on the steps outside his home in the city. Community leaders, said JTA, are unconvinced. "I think it's still early to say that it's not an act of anti-Semitism or ethnically motivated violence," St. Petersburg's chief rabbi, Mendel Pevzner, told JTA on Monday. Police are expected to meet with Jewish community leaders later Monday to discuss the case.
