Channel 10: Erez planned teachers strike to replace Tamir with Ayalon

Secondary School Teachers Organization Chairman Ran Erez initiated the teachers strike in order to bring about the replacement of Education Minister Yuli Tamir, Channel 10 learned on Thursday. The TV channel reported that in a meeting between Erez and Education Ministry Deputy Director General Menahem Cohen, Erez told Cohen that the strike was part of his plan to replace Tamir with MK Ami Ayalon (Labor). Erez reportedly claimed that Labor chairman Ehud Barak knew about the plan and that even Prime Minister Ehud Olmert supported the move.
