Alterman and Pekerman to receive help from ITU

Will benefit from an ITU support team of two coaches, bike mechanic and athletic trainer.

Israeli triathletes Dan Alterman and Nina Pekerman were selected by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) to compete as members of the Elite Athlete Development Project (EADP) at the Mooloolaba BG Triathlon World Cup in Australia on March 25. As a result, Alterman and Pekerman are automatic entries for the race and will benefit from an ITU support team of two coaches, bike mechanic and athletic trainer. The program was piloted at the Beijing Triathlon World Cup last September as one of the Sport Development programs initiated through ITU's partnership with global gas giants BG Group. Alterman, who was awarded a BG Scholarship earlier this year to assist with funding to travel, train and make use of sport science support, won a silver medal at the Eilat ITU Premier European Cup Final and currently sits at 56th in the Olympic rankings. "Triathlon is growing very fast as a sport and with so many talented athletes coming through the ranks, I am extremely proud to have been selected for Team BG," Nina Pekerman, the Israeli women's triathlon champion said. "The support I will get from training and competing as a team with experienced coaches and athletes from other countries will be a great learning experience. I'm sure it will help towards my long term goal of competing at the Olympic Games."
