Baseball returns as four teams prepare for new season
The Jerusalem Premier League baseball team will take the field for the first time in three years on Monday.

The Jerusalem Premier League baseball team will take the field for the first time in three years on Monday, to open the schedule of the Israel Association of Baseball’s top amateur league.The teams participating this year represent Jerusalem, Ra’anana, Modi’in and Tel Aviv.All games will be played at the Yarkon Sports Complex at the Baptist Village, just north of Petah Tikvah on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings at 7:15 pm.Defending champion Modi’in begins its title defense on Thursday.The season runs from mid-March through the month of June, with a league championship playoff occurring then.Jerusalem’s 2011 roster: Outfielders: Mordecai Frist, Mordecai Weismann, Jonathan Kirshblum, Yehuda Maor, Yehuda Vecht.Infielders: Beni Friedman, Gilad Rosinger, Rephael Rosenberg, Gil Mizrahi, Ehud Talmor, Ilan Klein, Seth Herman.Catchers/pitchers: Yoni Alter, Orr Gottlieb, Jacob Zeffren, Amit Kurz.Head coach: David Friedman Jerusalem’s team will be anchored by former USA junior college World Series players Beni Friedman and Gili Rosinger.Four other players have been a part of Israel’s national baseball teams.
