Elmhurst Dairy beat Tri-United 19-2 in a Beit Shemesh derby last week. The Dairy Farmers displayed a relentless hitting attack and sparkling defense in their first win of the Israel Softball Association Babe Gillett Fast-pitch Fall Tournament. Aaron Cohen was the star with three hits, including a home run and a triple, and made a leaping catch in left field. Andre Isaacson pitched a phenomenal game, allowing only two unearned runs. Jeff Mor (two doubles), Lavey Freedman (triple), and Isaacson each went 4-5 and Aron Garfinkel was a perfect 3-3, and was hit twice by pitches. Mor was outstanding at shortstop with two fine plays, Garfinkel made a sensational catch on a ball over his head in right field and Darius Schwartz had two splendid catches in center field. Penticon 13, Tigers 7 In a battle of the two remaining undefeated teams, which was marred by disagreements and disputed calls, the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Ilan Spira's two-run double. Penticon answered with three of its own on a two-run single from Mark Mayerfeld and then scored 10 more unanswered runs over the next few innings as the game got out of hand. David Aron and Howie Hirsch each tripled while hurler Ami Baran kept the Tigers' bats in check. The Tigers scored four in the final frame off of relief pitcher Marc Bodner, but it was too little too late as Penticon took over sole possession of first place.
