Moshiko left it until late, but a solid overall performance saw Rubin Klein smash home with seconds on the clock to give the squad a valuable 3 points as it defeated Ben Maimon 1-0 in Week One of the Moshiko Soccer League. Dani Mechlowitz captained a well-organized Moshiko side and Clive Conway was solid in defense as Moshiko hope to build on last season's campaign. In other action, U.K.I sent out a warning to the rest of the league with a 9-1 thrash of Jeff's Boys. David Baddiel capped a marvelous display with five goals, David Korman had three, Yoni Schurder added a pair and captain fantastic Yoni Shimmel scored as U.K.I was eager to overcome last season's disappointment, in which it lost in the final on penalties. Carroll's Security played it safe in a 2-0 win over Coffeetime Bagels. David Moss converted an early penalty and David Leiwy's silky skills earned him a sensational goal. The Chabadnicks staged a remarkable comeback, defeating the Bugs 2-1. Shiran Kramer put the Bugs ahead from a spotkick and, despite having a man sent off, the Chabadnicks fought back with Moshe Noe and Benji Smith scoring in this thrilling encounter. Credit goes to 'keeper Shlomi Werjuka after he pulled-off a string of sensational saves to assure the victory. The Giblets ran rampant over Phishpo as Micha Richdieder grabbed five, Gav Cohen three and Ronny Perel, Eliezer Gilbert and Avi Blau one apiece to help out in the 12-0 rout. Other scores from the weekend: Club Med 2, Spanish Armada 1; Cafe Rimon 1, D.C 1; SA Seniors 3, My Computer 0.
