A straight steal of home gave Dimona a 2-1 win over the Tigers in an Israel Softball Association game last week. On Monday, Yigahl Ben Israel took off for home plate on a throw back to Tigers pitcher Goose Gillett to break the 1-1 deadlock in a scintillating pitching duel between Gillett and Yarone Ben Israel (12 strikeouts, four hits allowed). Ilan Spira tripled in the Tiger run. Crazy Richard 10, Shimshon Hi-Tech 5 On Sunday, ninth-grader Ilan Susskind hurled his second complete game in a row without a yielding a walk and pitched out of a bases-loaded, no outs jam down 3-0 in the first. Alon Leichman's two-run triple followed by Nate Rosenberg's two-run homer dealt the death blows in a four-run sixth for Crazy Richard Re-Max Ra'anana. Mark Chass and Joel Schnitzler each had a pair of hits for Beit Shemesh. Ziontours 21, Dawgs 6 Also Sunday, Aaron Levarko prevailed over Aaron Kurtz in an Aaron pitching duel. Levarko threw three perfect innings and Kurtz succumbed to wildness before the game ended in the fifth. Joel Katzin led the Ziontours offense with five hits, Benny Ruggill had four and Mike Doktofsky smashed a double and triple. Kurtz's three-run triple accounted for half of the Dawgs runs. Penticon 9, Galil Twisters 6 On Monday, Penticon erased a 6-5 deficit with a four-run sixth against young Kobi Daya, and Ami Baran shut the door on a hot-hitting Twister offense in the last two innings. Micah Winston tripled and scored on Jeffrey Zitomer's single in the first, but Penticon answered with four in the fourth off of Bill Arscott on a two-run single by Daniel Maddy-Weitzman and a Netanel Levenson's triple. The Northerners answered with five in their half of the frame with key triples from Eitan Milgram and David Earll. David Aron's single in the sixth tied it and the go-ahead run scored on an error on the play with Howie Hirsch and Maddy-Weitzman adding RBI singles for good measure. Cerveceros 29, Dawgs 7 On Tuesday, Ozias Kaim hit for the cycle to lead the powerful Cerveceros offense over the winless Dawgs. A nine-run second broke open a close 5-4 game and Cerveceros pitcher Yehezkel Ganz settled down to keep the Dawgs offense in check, finishing with three strikeouts. Bernardo Esquivel added a double and triple. Crazy Richard 7, Otzma Eilat 5 On Thursday, Ron Dermer's two-run double in the fourth broke a 4-4 tie to give teen pitcher Ilan Suskind the win. Crazy Richard Re-Max Ra'anana managed only three hits off of Eilat pitcher Jeremy Shai, but walks and wild pitches were his bane. Bruce Maddy-Weitzman walked and scored four times and Mati Silverman added an RBI double. Also last week in the men's league, it was: Dimona Mean Judeans 14, Ziontours 2; Cerveceros 15, Galil Twisters 5; and Ziontours 15, Otzma Eilat 0. Women's League Beit Shemesh 13, Dimona Lady Judeans 7 On Sunday night, the Beit Shemesh Fireballs beat Dimona behind pitcher Monica Drori, who held Dimona scoreless for five of the seven innings due in part to hermetic defense by Inbal Haskel and Rhonda Lloyd at second and short, respectively. Lloyd and Efrat Yaakov led the offense with long doubles.
