Ziontours handed Dimona its second straight loss in Israel Softball Association men's league action last week, while ISP Tel Aviv remained undefeated with a 12-4 victory over Beit Shemesh in a women's game. Ziontours 12, Dimona Mean Judeans 8 On Thursday, Ziontours' junkballer Blair Portnoy, starting in place of the absent Aaron Levarko, dulled the dangerous Dimona bats and Benny Ruggill led the offensive attack in a sloppy win over Dimona. Ruggill banged out three hits off of struggling Dimona hurler Yarone Ben Israel and the usually solid Dimona defense was porous. The game ended when, with Dimona threatening, shortstop Aviv Yaakov fielded a grounder up the middle, stepped on second and threw to first for the game-ending double play. Ahkaziya and El Yaheed Ben Israel each tripled for Dimona and Yarone was 3-for-3. Women's League ISP Tel Aviv 12, Beit Shemesh Fireballs 4 On Wednesday, Tel Aviv and Beit Shemesh fought a tight, well-played game until the former broke it open with five runs in the seventh to remain undefeated. For Tel Aviv, junior phenom Allison Aronovic pitched her first complete game, striking out eight in seven innings while hitting a double, Inbar Reich tripled three times and Elana Greenspan, playing her last game before leaving the country for several years, tripled and snagged a hot line drive at third base. Beit Shemesh catcher Meirav Eisenberg was her team's star, making two nice catches on foul balls, putting two runners out at home and alertly racing out a bunt double.
