A kick to the head 18 seconds before the end of her first round bout against Martina Zubcic of Croatia ended Bat El Gatterer's Olympics on Thursday.
The Israeli Taekwondo fighter had already opened a 3-1 lead against the European Championship runner-up, but couldn't maintain her advantage and was sent packing.
"Bat El performed well and got off to a good start, and it's a shame about the ending," Gatterer's coach Noa Shmida said.
"Nevertheless, we're not disappointed. We came here to do our best and Bat El has still got plenty of time to improve until London 2012."
