Golf: Almagor and Mendelman lead world pairs qualifiers

Shmuel Almagor and Ronnie Mendelman made the early running at the Ga'ash Golf Club on Tuesday in the race to get to Carnoustie in Scotland to play in the finals of the world international pairs tournament. Thirty two pairs started the day with perfect playing conditions The format of the tournament was a better ball stableford 75% handicap. The scoring was excellent and the 12 pairs that qualified had to have more than 37 stableford points. The three best scores of the day were Almagor and Mendelman on 43 stableford points followed by the duos of Gidi Golan and Limor Sidi, and Joshua Shponder and Moshe Shlomowitz both on 42 stableford points. Nearest to the pin prizes went to Henrieta Eser and Cyril Kaufman. The next qualifying round will be on Monday the 29th of June to choose the next 12 pairs to play in the final at the Ga'ash Golf Club at the beginning of July.
