Golf clubs share Israel Open event [pg. 11]

Gaash Golf Club and the Caesarea Golf Club split the stableford competition of the Israeli Open Golf Championships last week. Each venue hosted one round of the event. The first-day leader at Gaash was Jeff Randell from Caeserea, who continued to play solid golf on the second day and took first place. Following in second was Warren Berman from Gaash, who also played consistently on both days. Gaash Pro Shop Manager Arik Sagi, who had the best round on the second day at the tough Caeserea Golf Club course, finished in third. The tournament hosted two guests, Mitchell Dressler and Hesh Rosen, from the Green Valley Golf Club in Pennsylvania as part of the "Sister Club" program. Other notable finishes by Gaash members were Norma Kaufman, who took second place in the women's open net competition, and Amos Aharoni, who was second in the senior men's net competition. A professional tournament was held for the first time and Itamar Cohen won after breaking the Caeserea course record with a 7-under-par 66 on the final day. Roy Steinberg won the Israeli Open for men and Latecia Beck was victorious in the women's event.
