The number of Israeli soccer players in England has now increased to five. Ran Kadoch became the first Israeli goalkeeper ever to sign with an English professional club when he agreed terms to join League Two side Barnet. Although he will be playing at a lower level, Kadoch joins Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun, Portsmouth's Ben Sahar, Manchester City's Tal Ben-Haim and Bolton's Tamir Cohen in England. The 22-year-old shot stopper has transferred from Israeli third division team Nes Ziona after previously playing with Hapoel Ra'anana of the same level. Kadoch played for the Bees in two preseason friendlies against Leeds United and Watford and coach Paul Fairclough initially said that he could not offer the Israeli a contract as he already had two keepers. However Fairclough announced his change of mind in the press conference after Barnet's league loss against Brentford on Saturday. "He has really impressed me, technically and mentally. I have not signed him to sit around doing nothing," Fairclough said of Kadoch. Barnet is currently awaiting international clearance on its new signing. Kadoch will join up with his new teammates for training on Monday.
