The 20-year-old Irina Risenzon came to Israel from the Ukraine at the age of nine and is aiming to reach the final of the individual all-around in Beijing.
Risenzon, who trains at Maccabi Holon, recorded the best result of her career at last year's World Championships, finishing the competition in seventh place. At the 2007 European Championships she finished in eighth place.
Her target in China is to end the qualifiers among the top-10 and advance to the final for the first time in Israeli gymnastics history.
