Kolganov and Lufan bronzed at kayaking Euros

The duo recorded their best result together to date on Sunday, winning the bronze medal in the 200-meter discipline at Racice, Czech Republic.

The partnership between former Olympic medalist Michael Kolganov and his young partner Barak Lufan continues to bear fruits. The duo recorded their best result together to date on Sunday, winning the bronze medal in the 200-meter discipline at the European Kayaking Championships in Racice, Czech Republic. Kolganov and Lufan missed out on the silver by 0.036 seconds, trailing Lithuanians Alvydas Duonela and Egidijus Balciunas (31.958 seconds). The winners, Germans Ronald Rauhe and Tim Wiesk tter, crossed the finish line in 31.818. Lufan, 19, was competing at the senior European Championships for the first time. "We did it and I feel great," Kolganov said. "We worked very hard and proved that we are at the highest European level. Our next target is the world championships next month in Hungary and we must work very hard to be able to succeed there." The Israeli pair also took part in the 500m final earlier in the day, placing seventh. Their time, one minute 29.617 seconds, was 1.368 seconds off the medal pace. Rauhe and Wiesk tter won gold in the 500m as well.
