Lakers, Tigers pull out nail-biters

On Tuesday, in Week 6 of the WAFI football season, two games kicked off the night simultaneously and both ended up as one-point thrillers that went right down to the wire. The action started quickly when two fierce rivals, Eden's Eagles and Paige's Lakers, both with the exact same record, met each other at Kraft Stadium in Jerusalem. Paige's Lakers' Adi Taylor opened the scoring with a touchdown to give them a 6-0 lead. It was after Eden's Eagles QB Ilana Abell connected with Nili Tover for the equalizing TD that both teams immediately realized they had their work cut out for them. Nili Block scored twice more for Paige's Lakers and then caught a crucial extra point in her team's 19-18 oh-so-tight victory. Eden's Eagles' "Abell sisters", Margie and Ilana, both scored TD's in a losing cause but the conversions fell just short. The game would likely have ended differently if not for Paige's Lakers' Batsheva Schrader's excellent defense and two critical interceptions. In the second featured nail-biter of the evening, a victory was grasped late by Technolite Tigers, who defeated Phone4Less, Burgers Bar 20-19. Michal Hartman got the game started with a bang when she ran the ball the full length of the field for the first TD of the game. Tigers' QB Naama Harrow threw a scoring pass to Daniella Brown and extra points were scored twice by Hartman. On defense, Atara Klein intercepted the ball and then ran it in for the winning score. In other WAFI action this week, Nativ recorded a 10-7 victory over HODS. Receiver Ashley G caught Nativ's only TD of the game. Midway through the game, with Nativ down 7-6, they managed to buckle down and sack HODS QB twice consecutively in her own end zone for two safeties. PAYGEA soared over the Trumanettes with an easy 24-6 win. QB Lauren Levine threw four beautiful touchdown passes, twice to Eli Roth and one apiece to Tehilla Patlakh and Leah Avner. On defense, Deena Genuth and Levine were there to help out each with a pick of their own. After Mishaan Plumber's 47-0 blowout loss last week, they decided to turn the tables with a big win of their own against Law Office of Seth Michael Goldstein, Skid Bladnir, the final score, ironically, being 47-0. QB Esther Feldhamer threw three touchdowns to Rachel Shmidman, a pair to Elisheva Drellich, and a couple more to Mia Lazarus. Extra points were scored twice by Shmidman and Drellic, with the last one going to Adena Lesnick, who was the most surprised player on the field when she caught a tipped ball for the conversion. On defense, Shmidman picked the ball off twice and returned them for nice yard gains. The other result from Week 6 was Ziontours 12, The Storm 6.
