Maccabi Haifa will host Liverpool in Kiev, Ukraine, in the return leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie on August 22. UEFA said Monday that the move was in line with a previous decision that "no European competition matches (are) permitted to be staged in Israel in light of the ongoing troubles in and around the country." Liverpool beat the Israeli champions 2-1 in the first leg. UEFA said it will "continue to monitor the safety and security situation in Israel and further decisions will be made according to changes in this situation." Israel Football Association chairman Itzhak (Itche) Menahem appealed to UEFA on Sunday to allow Israeli clubs and the national team to host matches in Israel in light of the cease-fire that took effect on Monday.
