The 76th Israeli Athletics Championships at Hadar Yosef Stadium in Tel Aviv ended on Thursday night without any new Israeli record and without any new athlete qualifying for the London Olympics or European Championships.
Ma’ayan Furman won the women’s high jump competition, but she came no where near the 1.95-meters she requires to reach London, clearing 1.77m, 15 centimeters below her personal best.
Olga Lenskiy, 19, completed a sprint double by winning the 200m final in 24.07 seconds, a day after claiming a gold medal in the 100m.
However, her result wasn’t good enough to book a place at the European Championships, which begin in Helsinki on June 27.
Yochai Halevi, who will be one of 10 Israelis in Helsinki, won the long jump final on Thursday (7.47m) after also triumphing in the triple jump, while Dmitriy Glushchenko claimed the men’s sprint double with a gold in the 200m (21.44s).
