Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich advanced to their fourth Masters Series semifinal of the year on Friday night, defeating Novak Djokovic and Nenad Zimonjuc 6-2, 6- 2 in the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters in Cincinnati. The Israelis, who are seeded sixth in the $2,200,000 tournament, faced seventh seeds Lukas Dlouhy and Pavel Vizner in the last four late Saturday night. Shahar Pe'er lost to Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano for a second straight week late Thursday night. The Israeli, who is ranked No. 18 in the world, crashed to a 6-4, 6-3 defeat against Razzano (45) in the third round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto. Pe'er, who lost to the Frenchwoman in a three-hour thriller in the second round at Los Angeles last week, will spend the coming days in Palm Springs, California, training for the US Open which begins at Flushing Meadows, New York, on August 27. The Israeli claimed the first break of the match against Razzano (3-1) and despite losing her serve in the following game would open a 4-2 lead after breaking once more. The Frenchwoman, however, reeled off four games in a row and clinched the first set. The second set was dominated by Razzano, who eventually wrapped up the win on her third match point in the ninth game.
