Soccer: Buzaglo fined $50,000 for father's outburst

Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder Maor Buzaglo was fined an unprecedented $50,000 by an internal disciplinary committee following an outburst by his father directed at the club. Ya'akov Buzaglo attacked Maccabi in the media last week and the team's management decided to discipline his son according to a clause entered in his contract when he signed for the club last summer. The elder Buzaglo claimed his son was wasting his time at the team run by Avi Nimni, telling sports Web site One: "Maor doesn't belong in Maccabi. He didn't get the support he should have as a star. I hope Maor finds a club in Europe." Maccabi was concerned with Buzaglo's father's tendency to voice his frustrations in the media on what seems to be a weekly basis when the player moved from Sakhnin to Tel Aviv over the summer, and hoped the clause, which allows the club to fine Maor up to $100,000 for his father's words, would deter Ya'akov. However, Buzaglo's father continued with his antics, and the club finally decided to punish his son for it on Sunday. "I don't agree with what my father said," Maor Buzaglo admitted after exiting the disciplinary committee, before hearing of his punishment. "He was talking in my name, but I think only I can talk in my name."
