Amit Ivri set the first Israeli record of the national swimming championships on Wednesday, clocking a time of 26.36 seconds in the 50 meter butterfly at the Wingate Institute.
Ivri improved her own record from March's European Championships by 26 hundredths of a second and finished first ahead of Olympian Anya Gostomelsky.
Also Wednesday, Tom Be'eri, who will compete in the 100m and 200m breaststroke competitions in the Beijing Olympics, won the 100m breaststroke at Wingate in a time of 1:03.48 minutes.
Itai Chama, who will race the 200m backstroke in Beijing, won the same competition in the Israeli championships, finishing in 2:02.01m.
Hapoel Jerusalem's 4X100 freestyle team also set an Israeli record on Wednesday. Guy Barnea, Vitaly Pushkar, Denis Gayvoronski and Gal Nevo clocked a time of 3:29.61m on their way to the gold
