Israeli tennis player Dudi Sela made the third round in the Australia Open on Thursday, easily beating Romanian Victor Hanescu (ranked 44th in the world) 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 and becoming the first Israeli male player to reach such an advanced position since Amos Mansdorf in 1994. Sela will face the winner of the match between Ivan Ljubicic and 5th-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Israel's top player defeated German Rainer Schuettler, ranked 31st in the world, in the first round. In the past two years Sela, whose current rank 12 106, only made it to the second round, his greatest achievement so far in the tournament. His personal best ranking was 57.
