The Jewish National Fund offers a series of eco-tour programs including night safaris, family hikes and camping during the month of July. A night safari trip departs on Tuesday at 6 p.m. from Goren Park, in the western Galilee. In a large, open-air vehicle, this adventure takes participants into the mountain night to look for wild boars, foxes, coyotes and fallow deer. The four-hour trip costs NIS 80 (NIS 60 for JNF members). "Twice as good," a two-day family hike around the Western Galilee, begins Monday. The first day begins with a leisurely hike along the sea at Achziv, followed by a walk among the trees in Hanita forest and Park Admit. A trek under the moonlight starting later in the evening ends at Goren Park for a campfire, followed by sleeping-bag accommodation under the starry rural sky. The next day is devoted to a walk through Nahal Kziv. Another moonlight hike takes place along the riverbed of Nahal Grar on Thursday at 9 p.m. On this three-hour trip you'll be captured by the whistle of wind through the flora of the river, and hear shepherd tales of this biblical spot. This tour cost NIS 60 (NIS 40 for JNF members). For early birds, a family hike on Ya'ala Mountain will take place on Saturday, July 8 at 4 a.m. Set your alarm clocks accordingly.
