Winter weather is glorious in the Arava, the savanna-like region abutting the Jordan River from the Dead Sea to Eilat. The land's low level means that nights are not as cold as in the rest of the desert, while days are lightly sunny and breezy.
Kibbutzim and moshavim along the road to Eilat have set up tourist attractions that show off the pristine landscape, with accommodations ranging from desert camping sites offering sparkling clean bathrooms and showers and Beduin-style meal options to spanking new bungalows (zimmers) equipped with jacuzzis and lofts big enough for a slew of kids.
