After three years without one of their most exotic travel options, Israelis can once again fly direct to Marrakech. An Arkia flight has recently landed in Morocco, officially marking the airline’s resumption of direct service from Tel Aviv.
Arkia is the first Israeli carrier to reinstate direct flights to the popular Moroccan city since the route was suspended three years ago. In the initial phase, the airline will operate two weekly flights on the Tel Aviv–Marrakech route, reconnecting Israel with one of Morocco’s most sought-after destinations.
The inaugural flight was attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Transport Minister Miri Regev, Director-General of the Transport Ministry Moshe Ben Zaken, Director-General of the Israel Airports Authority Yiftah Ron-Tal, and Arkia CEO Oz Berlowitz.
The return of the route follows months of extensive collaboration between Israeli and Moroccan aviation and security officials.
Famed for its historic old city, bustling markets, grand palaces, rich culinary scene, and proximity to desert landscapes, Marrakech remains a cornerstone of Moroccan tourism. For Israelis, the renewed route restores easy, direct access to a beloved destination that had temporarily vanished from the local aviation map.
Arkia expressed its gratitude to Transport Minister Miri Regev, Transport Ministry Director-General Moshe Ben Zaken, and Civil Aviation Authority Director-General Shmuel Zakai for their assistance and tireless efforts in restoring the route.
