The opening of British Airways's new Terminal 5 got off to a rough start, with computer and baggage collection system malfunctions.

Israelis traveling through London's Heathrow Airport can breathe easy, as the airport's terminals 1 and 4 are apparently not being affected by the calamitous opening of the airline's new Terminal 5, British Airways's management in Israel said Sunday. According to BA, flights to and from Tel Aviv are slated to be routed through the new Terminal 5 only in the second stage of its opening, on April 30.
The much-publicized opening of British Airways's new Terminal 5 got off to a rough start, with computer and baggage collection system malfunctions causing the cancelation of over 200 flights and leaving some 15,000 pieces of luggage stranded.
BA said it was working to "solve the faults as soon as possible." The company predicted it would operate 87 percent of the flights scheduled to be routed through Terminal 5 on Monday and Tuesday.
