Sde Dov Airport's activity will be shifted to Terminal 1 in Ben-Gurion Airport for two months due to construction work intended to improve safety. Work on the lighting system of the airport's runway will start on October 26 and will last for two months, during which domestic flights to and from Eilat and Rosh Pina and private commercial flights will be shifted to Terminal 1. Terminal 1 is in operation through the summer, after which it will also be closed for construction, to be reopened permanently next summer. The terminal is to aide in easing the load of short-haul flights in and out of Ben-Gurion Airport. The construction work in Sde Dov, a domestic airport that uses 750,000 passengers a year, will be carried out by the Israel Air Force and will be financed by the IAF and the Israel Airports Authority.
