America, the legendary folk rock band from the UK, has canceled its concert at the Ra’anana Ampitheater on August 7 due to safety fears as Israel’s Gaza offensive continues.

The group rose to prominence in the 1970s with such No. 1 hits as “A Horse with No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair,” and went on to record other classics like “You Can Do Magic” and “Ventura Highway.” After 40 years and 15 studio albums, they continue to draw large crowds and sell out shows, with international tours from New Zealand to the Philippines and a performance schedule that keeps them on the road for more than 200 days of the year.

In 2007, a younger generation of rockers proclaimed their allegiance to the band, with America joining members of Fountains of Wayne, the Smashing Pumpkins and My Morning Jacket as well as Americana popstars Ryan Adams and Ben Kweller in the studio for Here and Now, the band’s first album in more than two decades, which created a resurgence in the band and their music.
