Out with the black, out with the white, and in with - color! While fall/winter clothing styles are typically characterized by somber, earthy and sometimes even dull tones, spring/summer collections always bring a refreshing breath of livelier shades. However, this spring “colorful” has taken on a whole new meaning, as our makeup also travels over the rainbow - going from bright to brighter.
Boldly pucker up
Get pumped as vibrant lipsticks and glosses will literally burst onto the scene. This spring/summer deliciously fruity candied colored tones are back and it's really not surprising as to why. These colorful hues suit the season (and its style perfectly) and with a number of shades to choose from, the possibility of creating different looks is endless.

Pumped-up tones from juicy watermelon, coral and orange crush to vivid fuchsias and flaming hot reds, with textures ranging from ultra matte to super slick, are among the hottest colors for spring/summer 2011.  Tip: If you are a fan this trend, remember to keep the rest of your makeup on the lighter side (you don't want to look like you did as a three years playing dress up with your mother's makeup).  Simply pair a statement colored pout in orange, pink, or red with natural eye shadows and minimum face makeup (light foundation, mascara and a little blush are more than enough).

However, it’s not just our lips (and our clothes) that will be hit by the color spectrum this spring. Get ready to say bye bye to your black, brown and even gray eye shadows and be ready entire a land of techno color. From soft pastels to bolder brighter shades of green, yellow and blue, colorful eye shadows certainly know how to make your face and your look pop.
Green eyes are one trend to watch this coming spring; however, we aren’t talking about the traditional one or two shades of this garden color that are typically used; this spring, all versions of this color are up for grabs. From deep black-greens to luminous limes to almost sheer mint, dibble and dabble in the different tones to see which suits your face and the style you want to achieve.
Another traditional look that will get shot with a blast of color is none other than smokey eyes. A timeless look, smokey eyes never seem to go out of fashion; however, this spring the customary blacks, grays and silvers used to achieve this dramatic effect will be replaced by dark shades of blue and various purple hues ranging from deep violet to lilac.
While bold tones from strong pinks to smurf blues and sunny yellows will be all the rage next season, it is the pastel palette that will really capture the spotlight. Bright but yet soft, pastel eye makeup brightens your complexion, creating a stylish fun look that is ideal for the warm spring season. Add to this spring fling by using colorful eyeliners.

Nude Makeup
Bare natural makeup has been popular for some time now and doesn’t show any signs of fading away. For spring/summer 2011, nude makeup will make a strong stand, especially among the dynamic array of bold colors.  The goal of the look is to produce a flawless, fresh face and enhance the natural beauty of our features by illuminating our eyes, lips and cheekbones using only soft and neutral tones. Some of this spring's warmest shades include honey browns, almond, beige, taupe, and soft latte.
Tip: Just because the style is to create a "no makeup" look, definitely does not mean that you will not be using any makeup.  Lightly apply your makeup so that your best facial features are enhanced. Foundation, a dab of concealer, a soft coat of powder, a touch of nude lipstick, mascara, a light stoke of blush and a cream colored eye pencil are all you need.
