Known for his hits “F#%k You” and “Crazy,” Grammy-winning R&B singer CeeLo Green will be performing at Independence Park in Jerusalem on August 19, the musician’s first concert in Israel.
The singer is currently on tour in North American with Lionel Richie until July, but he will be coming to Israel in August as part of the Jerusalem Municipality’s summer events.
Green, who was born Thomas DeCarlo Calloway, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and began his career in 1994 when he founded the rap group Goodie Mob with three of his friends. He went on to work with the band Outkast and earned fame through his performance in Gnarls Barkley’s 2006 hit “Crazy.”
After, Calloway maintained a solo career under the name CeeLo Green, and went on to appear on four seasons of the American singing competition show The Voice.
Mayor Nir Barkat said in a press release that an effort is being made to return Jerusalem to “being the capital of international culture, attractive and relevant to everyone” and that Jerusalem is “preparing many surprises for the summer,” such as the CeeLo Green concert.
Along with Green, The Mercedes Band, Ninet Tayeb and Redband will also be performing at the concert. Tickets sales will start at NIS 120.
