The Nomination Will Be Justifiably Blocked/

In 1960, an election year, Democrats, who controlled the Senate, blocked nominations to the Supreme Court. In 2006, Obama filibustered Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court. Senator Chuck Schumer (NY) said the same year that the Senate should not consider a single Bush appointee even for lower courts. Do the Democrats find Republicans so foolish as to confirm a nominee to the Supreme Court nine months from the election? They complain about Republicans doing exactly as did the Democrats. They want to push a liberal judge. Short of a liberal being elected, Republicans unequivocally support the Senate decision to delay until the new president is inaugurated. No case ever was heard in the Supreme Court about the Senate not taking up a nomination. Why? The constitution clearly clear states that the President has the power to nominate while the Senate serves to confirm. Let Obama nominate. Republicans will do what their voters expect. They will hold firm just as the Democrats have done for decades. No one actually believes the Left's petty arguments. If the tables were reversed, Harry Reid never would consider a hearing for a Supreme Court justice nomination in an election year. They bring up Reagan and Kennedy. The Left loves revisionist history. They always forget that Anthony Kennedy was Reagan’s third choice. He originally nominated Robert Bork in 1986. The Democrats went way beyond decency by resorting to character assassination of Bork until he withdrew the nomination in 1987. Then, the Democrat’s rejected Reagan’s second choice. In reality, Reagan’s appointment of Justice Kennedy took over two and a half years to complete in what was not an election year. The Republicans will not lose a single vote over this. If they cave, then and only then, will they lose votes. The Left seems to think they still control Congress. They do not and cannot shove liberal justices down the throats of Republicans. Did the Democrats actually believe Republicans would allow the lamest of lame duck presidents to push through a nominee? In the last election in 2014, Republicans won the Senate and extended their majority in the House. Saying, Obama has any mandate other than to play golf is a joke. He lost the House in his first midterm election as well as his super majority in the Senate. In his second midterm, he lost, even more, house and senate seats. Under Obama, Republicans have picked up more federal, state, and local seats than in any other time in history. The number includes thirty-one governors, even more, majorities in state legislatures, and those all-important fifty-four Senate seats. Remember, Obama is the first president in history to be re-elected by a smaller margin of popular and electoral votes than his original victory in 2008. He never had a clear mandate, and if Romney hadn’t shot himself in the foot by not going after Obama's record, Obama would not have been reelected. As people became even more dissatisfied, the Senate went to Republicans just two years later. Almost unprecedented, this president entered the White House with a Senate supermajority and a decent majority in the House and lost both. Republicans picked up more house seats in 2010 than in any election since the 1940's and added to that in 2014. Well, What does that mean? Republicans received a mandate to keep lame duck, playing golf Obama in check to protect the American people from his disregard for the law and the Constitution. When it suits him, Obama uses the Constitution but resorts to executive actions like a tyrant, when it doesn't. This man never admitted his failures in the VA, IRS, Fast and Furious. He thumps his chest because “he killed” Bin Laden, a non-factor in exile. The American people are not as dumb as the Left thinks. They do not vote for women simply because she is female. Americans vote for the candidate’s ideas, ability to govern, integrity, and trustworthiness. The American people hopefully will never elect another narcissistic, self-obsessed, pathological liar to the highest office in the land as they did in 2008 and 2012. As you can see, they aren’t too happy with the results. So Democrats, keep whining. Continue being hypocrites because Republicans are going to stick to their guns on this one. You will get no Supreme Court confirmation this year. Focus on winning the 2016 presidential election, and maybe you’ll have a shot at getting a liberal judge. The Democrats fear they will lose the presidency in 2016. Why else would the NYT write a new article every day basically begging the republicans to consider their liberal judge that will not use the constitution to make decisions on the court. They were always hypocrites but surely they see the handwriting on the wall. The next president is sworn in on January 20, 2017, and he/she will nominate the person to replace one of the greatest judges to serve on the court, Justice Antonin Scalia.
