JPost column on hottest Jewish news: Raisman brings US gold ; Rafaeli, Olympic skateboarder fuel dating rumors.
By LAHAV HARKOV
Let's face it, the Olympics love Hava Nagila. Whether it's figure skating or gymnastics, it's the folk song of choice Jewish Olympians around the world. This week, gymnast Aly Raisman brought the US its first gymnastics team gold medal since 1996 for her floor exercise to Hava Nagila. The athlete, who posed for Vogue and was featured in a "Got Milk" ad, is also a favorite to win an individual medal on Thursday.Meanwhile, Raisman's parents, Ricky and Lynn Raisman have become unlikely Olympic celebrities, with Lynn cheering from the stands as only a Jewish mother can. Watch her shout "stick it, STICK IT!!!" in a thick Bostonian accent, twisting in her seat while Aly goes for gold in this video that went viral online.Remember that rumor that Bar Refaeli is dating Olympic skateboarder\snowboarder Shaun White? Well, the two added fuel to the fire, watching a swimming competition together. White even tweeted a picture of himself with Refaeli and champion swimmer Michael Phelps' family:
Dr. Ruth Westheimer is a prolific tweeter at age 84, so of course she had something interesting to say about the Olympics:
The Olympics shooting competition is Sunday. Did you know I was a sniper in Israel? I can still put 5 bullets in red circle.
