Israeli film raises awareness as Europe marks day for protecting children against sexual abuse
The animated short film, "Tom's Secret," is the first such film to guide parents on how to identify, prevent and respond to instances of child sexual abuse.

An Israeli-produced video has been chosen to raise awareness for the fight against sexual abuse of children being marked Friday on European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.The animated short film, "Tom's Secret," is the first such film to guide parents on how to identify, prevent and respond to instances of child sexual abuse.The film, which was originally produced in Hebrew, has been translated to English, French and Russian.The film is a joint initiative of Ronit Raphael who has taken on the issue of child sexual abuse by helping to organize help centers for victims of sexual abuse in Israel.Raphael said that "unfortunately sexual abuse of children in the family is a wide-spread occurrence which isn't properly dealt with and is even swept under the rug. We at the Ronit Raphael Beauty Centers decided to act on the issue and to promote awareness of the problem in Israel and throughout the world. "Tom's Secret" is a film that we initiated and produced and we are very pleased that it is succeeded in reaching such a wide and important audience throughout the world."
