A burglar in the southern city who had a few too many drinks before heading out on the job decided to make himself at home and stay a while in a local apartment Saturday night, Eilat police said Sunday.
Officers in Eilat received a dispatch call about a break-in Saturday night and when they arrived, they found the burglar sound asleep, after having cooked up a hot meal in the apartment's kitchen.
They said that when they woke the 32-year-old man, he said he'd been drinking and probably just got confused and went to the wrong apartment.
The police did not believe his story, possibly because he entered the apartment through the window.
The Eilat resident was taken in to custody for further questioning.
