The Southern District Attorney's Office on Monday filed an indictment with the Beersheba District Court accusing a Jewish minor, 17, of racist attempted murder in a stabbing spree of four Israeli-Arabs on October 9.
According to the indictment against the minor, whose name is under gag order, he armed himself with five knives, a wrench and a Swiss army knife with the goal of killing as many Israeli-Arabs as he could find.
He left his residence around 8:30 a.m. and when he saw an Israeli-Arab Dimona municipality cleaning worker pushing a cleaning cart, he dashed up to him and stabbed the cleaning man several times, left the knife in his back, fled the scene and called the police to report that he had killed a terrorist, said the indictment.
Shortly after, noted the indictment, the minor attacked two Israeli-Arab municipal workers at a nearby high school as well as stabbing one Israeli-Arab passing by and fled again.
The minor was later arrested and initially there were police reports that he would be charged with merely attacking the Israeli-Arabs, but ultimately the charge filed by the prosecution was the more serious charge of attempted murder.
The attack riled the nation and was one of the first of a series of attacks by Jews on Israeli-Arabs during a time period in which there have also been attacks by Palestinians and Israeli-Arabs against Jewish-Israelis on nearly a daily basis, sometimes multiple attacks in a day.
