Magen David Adom Ayalon crews evacuated the five to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.
According to initial investigations, the semi-trailer was traveling on Route 444 in the direction of Shoam. Apparently due to heavy traffic, the truck halted to a stop near the entrance of the community. As a result, the private car in which the family and four children were riding in, slammed into the rear of the truck's trailer.
Traffic investigators found no signs of tire marks on the road which would indicate that the brakes were applied prior to the collision, leading them to believe that the car slammed into the trailer without decelerating or attempting to swerve out of the way.
