Weinstein's wife to pay fine of NIS 20,000 for illegally employing a foreign worker

Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein's wife Aviva will pay a fine of NIS 20,000 for illegally employing a foreign worker, following a plea bargain reached at the Tel Aviv labor court on Wednesday.Aviva, who did not attend the hearing, will have 10 months to pay the fine for illegal employment.During the court's ruling, the prosecutor said that Weinstein cooperated with the court at every step of the proceedings, and confessed at the first opportunity presented to her.Her lawyer, meanwhile, said that it was the first time she made such a mistake and that it was a "mistake made with good intentions."According to the lawyer, the foreign worker told Weinstein that he had legal papers and showed her a legal work visa. The lawyer said that Weinstein did not understand that the legal visa only allowed the man, a native of India, to work in care-taking and not as a housekeeper.In late January, State Prosecutor Moshe Lador approved the charges against Weinstein, after the Population, Immigration, and Borders Authority recommended in May 2012 that she be charged.During the investigation of the case, Weinstein himself was questioned, but not under caution.
