Composer and producer Yoni Rechter will receive an honorary doctorate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, along with Cinematheque founder Lia van Leer, on June 7. Rechter was cited for his "rich creations and appreciation for his unique contribution to Israeli culture and Hebrew song." Van Leer was being honored for her dedication to promoting quality film culture in the country through the Cinematheque, Jerusalem Film Festival and other work.
