3 men charged with using pit bull terrier in violent attack

The Jerusalem District Attorney's office filed an indictment in the Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday, charging three Arab-Israeli residents of Jerusalem with using a pit bull terrier to perpetrate a violent assault on two men earlier this month.

The indictment charges Omar Muselmani (28), Tariq Majahad (21) and Muhammad Muselmani (25) with harm with aggravated intent, assault and possession of an illegal dog.

According to the indictment, a conflict arose between Omar and the two complainants, brothers Meier and Binyamin Drori, who all worked on a construction site in Jerusalem. Allegedly, Omar began to curse the Droris, but left when Meier asked him to. Shortly afterward, however, Omar returned accompanied by Tariq, Muhammad and the pit bull terrier, which was unmuzzled, the indictment says.

Omar is alleged to have let the dog off its leash, while gesturing towards Binyamin Drori, and shouting "get him", at the same time as Muhammad and Tariq encouraged the dog to attack.

The indictment says that the dog attacked Binyamin, locking its jaws onto his leg and tearing his flesh. Binyamin later required hospital treatment. Allegedly, Muhammad and Tariq then began to beat up Meier, and also punched Binyamin.
