5.9 magnitude earthquake recorded in Chile

NEW YORK — A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Chile on Monday. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck about 80 kilometers (50 miles) west of the coast of Talca, Maule and about 350 kilometers (200 miles) south west of the capital Santiago at 03:02 local time (1:02 a.m. EST: 0502 GMT).
