FLINT, Michigan — An Israeli man charged in a series of fatal stabbings in Michigan was accused on Thursday of assaulting jail officers.

Authorities said officers used a stun gun on Elias Abuelazam after he tried to punch a guard at the Genesee County jail Oct 27. He was arraigned Thursday on charges of assaulting an officer.

Defense attorney Ed Zeineh voiced concern at visible injuries to Abuelazam, who he says was previously a model prisoner.
