Allegedly abused baby twin is declared brain dead

One of the two twin four-year-old twin babies suspected of being abused and hospitalized this week was declared brain dead by a panel of doctors at Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer Thursday evening.

The twins' parents and grandmother were arrested Tuesday night at the hospital under suspicion of abusing the infants. The grandmother was subsequently released to house arrest but the two parents remained in police custody.

The parents were informed of the medical assessment. Meanwhile, the second twin's condition improved in recent days.
