Barak: Palestinian issue still central despite Syria report

January 4, 2011 12:34

Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Tuesday addressed reports that the US is secretly speaking to the Syrians in hopes of facilitating an Israel-Syria peace deal, saying he had "nothing concrete" to say on the issue, but that the US was "always interested" in engaging Damascus. Barak was speaking during a visit to an IDF base.

"[The US] is always checking all the possibilities and all the channels, and still, at this point, the main track is the Palestinian issue and I think we have to do all that is possible."
