Bayit Yehudi, Hatnua spar over women chief rabbi vote

Bayit Yehudi vetoed a bill proposal to allow women into the committee that chooses the chief rabbi, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni's office said on Thursday.

"This is an inappropriate use of the right to veto a moral law that was approved by all other coalition factions, and that could bring equality to the Orthodox and ultra Orthodox sectors," the statement said.Livni decided to retaliate and veto a Bayit Yehudi bill proposal.
