WASHINGTON - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi will ultimately step down if the international community keeps up pressure on his crumbling regime, CIA chief Leon Panetta told the US Senate on Thursday.

"Frankly, I think there are gains that have been made. We have seen the regime weakened significantly," Panetta told a Senate hearing weighing his nomination to become the next U.S. defense secretary.
