Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch officially made Yohanan Danino the new inspector-general of the Israel Police on Sunday. Danino replaced outgoing police chief David Cohen. The ceremony took place at the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem.
At the ceremony, the prime minister said that as the new police chief, Danino must protect the citizens of Israel against organized crime organizations who have become more sophisticated through the use of new technology.
Danino accepted the promotion, saying that "a big challenge stands before me."
