Egyptian security forces killed nine alleged terrorists and wounded eight near the Sinai city of Sheikh Zuweid on Tuesday, Egyptian media reported.
The alleged terrorists were members of Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, which pledged allegiance to Islamic State, reported El-Watan newspaper, which tends to support the regime.
A security source quoted by the paper said security forces saw intelligence that led security forces to the area and then to clashes with the fighters. Meanwhile, the constant terrorist attacks continue to take a toll on the country’s tourism industry.
