An international academic committee appointed by the European Commission has
selected The Center for the Study of European Politics and Society and the
Department of Politics and Government of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev to
create the only national Jean Monnet Center of Excellence in European Studies,
the university announced on Sunday.
Approximately 162 such centers already exist
around the world, and this is the first time in history that an Israeli
university has been chosen to establish one.
EU Ambassador to Israel Andrew
Standley warmly congratulated BGU on the “great achievement,” which he said was
“the result of the consistent commitment” that the institution has demonstrated.
