In the midst of a major heat wave, firefighters in Israel's North battled blazes in multiple sites on Wednesday. Fires raged near Kfar Ara, Safed and Kibbutz Kfar Giladi, and in open and wooded areas. Firefighters in the Galilee said they had been alerted to put out some 25 fires within the last 24 hours. Initial investigations have raised suspicions that the majority of the fires were not the result of spontaneous combustion but rather were ignited deliberately.
