Hurricane 'Sandy' set to make landfall

Hurricane Sandy is expected to come ashore in approximately one hour on the storm-battered northeast US coast, the US National Hurricane Center said on Monday.

Sandy was centered about 20 miles (35 km) south of Atlantic City, New Jersey, the center said.The hurricane center said Sandy was now a "post-tropical cyclone", meaning it still had hurricane-force winds but lost the characteristics of a tropical cyclone.
